Pediatric Psychologist, La Rabida Children’s Hospital

 

 

La Rabida Children’s Hospital is seeking to fill a position for a Pediatric Psychologist.  The position is full-time and will begin August 1, 2011.  La Rabida is a pediatric hospital serving children with chronic illnesses, developmental disabilities and abuse/trauma.  We are dedicated to serving the underserved families on the south side of Chicago.

 

Pediatric Psychologist

Responsibilities:

  • Provides diagnostic and psychotherapeutic services to children and their families in a pediatric medical setting.
  • Supervise interns/trainees and take part in other training activities.
  • Functions in an independent and professional manner to provide high quality psychological services to inpatients, outpatients and their families.
  • Administers a wide variety of psychological and psychoeducational tests to children
  • Provide consultation/liaison services to inpatients with a variety of chronic diseases.
  • Develop and provide diagnostic and treatment services to specific populations of children such as children with attentional disorders, school problems, externalizing disorders, and more.

 

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D./Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology (child clinical or pediatric psychology) required.
  • APA internship and post-doctoral fellowship in child or pediatric psychology required.
  • Licensed in Illinois or immediately eligible required.
  • Excellent child testing skills and experience treating children with attentional and externalizing disorders required.
  • Training and experience in behavioral interventions and short-term psychotherapy required.
  • Substantial experience, in both diagnostic/assessment and psychotherapy, of children with medical conditions (chronic illness experience is highly desirable), disabilities or handicapping conditions required.
  • Supervisory experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience with children having general pediatric and clinical-child problems such as school problems, behavioral disorders, attentional problems, etc required.
  • Three years of progressive post-graduate experience with children and adolescents in a pediatric medical setting is highly desirable.
